OLBIA COSTA SMERALDA AIRPORT, WINTER 2021/22 SEASON STARTS


Olbia, 18 October 2021 – The Winter 21/22 season at Olbia Airport will start on Sunday 31 October, in which international connections to Amsterdam (operated by Transavia in codeshare with KLM) and Barcelona will be reconfirmed, with the low cost Vueling, the latter operating from the Christmas holidays.
As far as the network of domestic winter flights is concerned, Volotea will connect Olbia with Bologna, Verona and Turin, as well as the connections with Milan Linate and Rome Fiumicino, to which will be added, during the Christmas holidays, Bergamo, Naples and Venice.
The low cost easyJet will intensify the frequencies of the consolidated connection with Milan Malpensa and as a novelty will extend the route with Bergamo to the Christmas period (from 17 December 2021).

Olbia Costa Smeralda Airport is preparing to close the Summer 2021 season with results considered quite satisfactory, considering the particular period of crisis experienced by the sector due to the pandemic.
The port of call has distinguished itself in the panorama of Italian airports among the top performers in terms of passenger traffic, evidencing in the period from January to August 2021 results above average (-34% vs. -69% of the average of Italian airports)
The performances recorded in the domestic segment are noteworthy, which grew by +3% compared to the same period of 2019.
During Summer 21, the airport network was enriched with the addition of 4 new airlines (Blueair, Egoairways, Lumiwings and Wizz Air) and the activation of 24 new connections.
The result of General Aviation was excellent, which in the period from January to September 2021 showed significant increases compared to the same period of 2019: movements + 25% and tonnage +10%.
